It always surprises me how readily people give private organisations their biometric data (e.g. faceprint). As you say, it's not something you can ever change.
Currently Meta want my biometric faceprint before they will look at why my Facebook account is suspended. That's not something I'm going to hand over to them.
The problem is people feel like they don’t have another choice. No good answers here except to make it fully optional. Or massive penalties for hacks and abuses.
