Thanks for the info. I was surprised to see even time info for a meal stop on our last trip. There are 66 entries, but only one is accessible. How does one access the others?

Interesting. Hard to say without access why the others aren't accessible. We will look around and see if we can come up with anything.

I guess that’s why they are trying to get me to hook back up to the cloud and everything is turned off on my old phone but it’s the first thing I do is turn off everything I possibly can ‼️🇺🇸✝️

Apple still knows your location; you can't turn off all location tracking. Even when you turn off the phone its tracking you; it goes into airtag mode which uses Bluetooth low energy to use surrounding phones to determine and pass along your location.

Yes. An iphone is not ideal when it comes to privacy. It is better than stock Android. Ultimately a de-googled android phone is superior to an iPhone for defeating tracking and data harvesting. But not everyone is willing to give up their iPhone.

My guess is that in the not-too-distant future, you won't be able to buy a phone that doesnt track you 24×7. Digital ID will require it. For now, AOSP comes close to achieving location privacy.

Funny, I have an iPhone 11 that was my daughter’s, that I decided to use when we upgraded her to a model 16, and as a person that loathes iCloud, iMessage, Siri, Alexa etc, I went and followed the menu path and found it was already turned off on my iPhone… go figure ?

I think I may be safe. My iphone shows I live in my neighbor’s house.

Thanks foe posting...

Will follow through...

I can no longer 'turn off' the microphone on my Roku tv...

The option is no longer available!!!

The closest thing is probably Google Timeline, which is tracked via Google Maps.

Good post, I'm glad you are highlighting the pros and cons of the feature. The good news (if you trust what Apple says) is that significant locations are E2EE, so the exposure is your device and someone with access to your Apple iCloud account. Source: https://www.apple.com/privacy/features/. This speaks to the importance of using strong account security for an iCloud account, and for your devices!

Yup. Good caveat about trusting Apple. And a good reason to make sure your account and device security is solid.

Do some apps and websites try to stop you if you don't have certain tracking features on? I keep trying to sign up for Chat GPT 4.0, yet it won't allow me due to "timing out", whatever that means.

Yes. This is common. They'll claim the service wont work w/o the tracking.
